The Real Thing Omega Fish Oil
This oil is ultra refined from small fish at the processing plant in Scandinavia and is guaranteed free of PCBs and the heavy metals such as mercury. The oil is shipped to South Africa in sealed containers and is then decanted, under pharmaceutical quality standards, into the 200 ml brown glass bottles which are nitrogen flushed before sealing. The product is registered with the South African Medical Control Council.
The oil contains 900 mg EPA and 600 mg DHA per teaspoon (5 ml) giving a total of 1 500 mg of Omega 3 oils. (Compare this with the amount you would get from a capsule, usually about 600 mg from a 1 000 mg capsule.) Note that the bottle says that there are 1 900 mg per teaspoon, but this includes extra oils such as stearidonic acid. Once the bottle is opened the oil should be kept in the fridge.
You should get about 40 teaspoons (5 ml) out of the 200 ml bottle. At one teaspoon a day, this is more than enough for one month at a standard rate. Some people may need a little more, but begin with one teaspoon.
Can you have too much ultra-refined Omega oil? Like everything else, yes you can, but then you would need to take in excess of 18 000 mg (a third of the bottle) every day.
One warning, if you are scheduled for an operation soon do not take the oil.
