Dr AMEN  has suggested that there are at least six different types of  ADHD/ADD.  This was the ground-breaking book that desctibes the six types. For therapists really wanting to increase their know-how.

 Maati says:The first-hand account of his life until he was 21. Ben was/is extemely hyper and certainly the naughtiest and most creative boys we have read about. In the book he gives therapists and parents insights on how to handle the extreme ADHDer. Although authors such as Dr Taylor and Dr Strong are ADD,  we have seldom heard from one so hyperative. They just are unable to settle down to write a book.
